Total Maintenance Solutions (TMS) is seeking an experienced Automatic Door Technician to join our growing Automatic Access Division.
TMS is a well-established Victorian business specialising in Automatic Doors, Gates, Boom Gates and Electrical Services. For more than 25 years, we have delivered installation, maintenance, breakdown support and major upgrade projects for hospitals, universities, sporting venues, government facilities and commercial customers throughout Victoria.
Our recent projects include major automatic door upgrade programs at the MCG, Deakin University, Barwon Health, Colac Area Health and numerous other high-profile facilities.
Geelong-based applicants are preferred; however, Melbourne-based technicians are encouraged to apply, with work regularly undertaken across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
About the Role
This is a field-based role responsible for the servicing, maintenance, repair and installation of automatic access systems.
Key responsibilities include:
· Preventative maintenance of automatic door systems
· Fault finding and breakdown repairs
· Automatic door operator replacements and upgrade works
· Installation and commissioning of automatic doors
· Compliance testing and inspections
· Managing service jobs through our mobile field service system
· Maintaining accurate service records and documentation
· Participation in a rotating after-hours call-out roster
You will work across a diverse range of customer sites including hospitals, universities, government buildings, sporting facilities and commercial properties.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· Previous experience servicing and repairing automatic door systems
· Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
· Experience with Dormakaba, Gilgen, Assa Abloy, Record or similar systems
· Sound electrical and mechanical knowledge
· Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation
· Strong communication and customer service skills
· Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively
· Current Driver’s Licence
· Full Australian working rights
Mandatory Requirements
Due to the nature of our customer base, the successful applicant will be required to:
· Successfully complete a National Police Check
· Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
· Meet customer site vaccination requirements, including:
o Current annual Influenza vaccination
o COVID-19 vaccinations as required by customer site policies
· Participate in a rotating after-hours call-out roster
· Comply with customer site induction, security and safety requirements
Highly Regarded
· Electrical Trade Qualification
· Experience with automatic gates and boom gates
· Access control experience
· Construction Industry White Card
· EWP, Working at Heights or other relevant industry licences

The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Maintenance Electrician based in the Ballarat region.
This is a hybrid role servicing customers throughout Ballarat while being supported by our Geelong office.
You’ll enjoy a diverse workload including:
· Commercial electrical maintenance
· Electrical fault finding and breakdown repairs
· Preventative maintenance
· Small commercial electrical projects
· Residential electrical service work
· Automatic door servicing and repairs (full training provided)
· Customer support and technical problem solving
· Electronic service reporting using tablet-based field management software
No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and solving different technical challenges.
About You
To be successful you will have:
· Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence
· Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience
· Strong experience in commercial electrical maintenance
· Experience working within healthcare, education and retail environments
· Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
· Ability to work independently while also contributing to a supportive team
· Strong communication and customer service skills
· Competent using tablets and work management software
· Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
· White Card
Most importantly, you’ll have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new technologies, including automatic door systems.
